Online Degrees, Are They Worth It?

An online degree is a degree obtained through taking classes through the internet. As the CEO of a teen jobs and student resume writing company, I am often asked what my opinions are regarding online degrees. I must admit that my opinion has changes over the last couple of years. If you would have asked me several years ago, I would have said don't waste your time. Today, I will tell you to go for it.

There are some things you need to keep in mind. Make sure the internet school is accredited, otherwise you are wasting your time. Many employers will look favorably on an online degree, but usually only if it from an accredited program. You also want to think about what career you want after you receive your degree because some fields still require you to have a degree from a brick and mortar institution.

Online Degree

Many people will choose an online program while they continue to work, the flexibility is one of the major advantages. Other advantages are the cost, it is much cheaper than a traditional college. Also and online degree can be obtained much faster than the typical 4 to 5 years that it takes most students to complete their degree.

Online degrees have increased dramatically in the last few years and their reputation has also improved dramatically in the past couple of years as well. In my opinion, obtaining a degree online can give your career a major boost or can give you a great jump start if you are just starting your career.
